The
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
is one of the largest professional associations in the world,
with a membership of some 100,000 comprising 75,000 chartered
surveyors and 5,000 technical surveyors as well as 20,000
students and probationers. Members are based in over 100
countries and operated in many others. In as many as 50
countries, the interests of chartered surveyors are represented
through locally organised units that provide support to
members and promote the qualification to government and
business. The RICS has four main responsibilities to the
public and its members: ensuring high standards of education
and training; the maintenance of standards and conduct;
professional advice to governments; and the provision of
information to and about the profession itself. |

The
Investment Property Forum acts as a forum
for professionals who want to discuss current property investment
issues. Its diverse membership (of nearly 1300) includes
investment surveyors, fund managers, academics, bankers,
lawyers, actuaries and other related professionals. Its
objectives are to enhance the knowledge and understanding of property as an asset class
by undertaking research, by providing education for its
members and others and by encouraging discussion and debate
amongst all those concerned with property investment. |

The
British Council of Shopping Centres was
established in September 1983 to provide an organisation
for those engaged in shopping and shopping centre development
and management. Since its formation BCSC has built up a
membership of over 1000 which is representative of all interests
in the shopping centre industry from owners and managers
to designers and contractors, and including developers and
retailers. The BCSC website is available to membersof the
BCSC and provides access to all their published material.

The
British Property Federation is the trade
association of the property industry, representing owners
and investors in commercial and residential property. The
value of property assets held by BPF members is over £70bn.
The membership of the BPF includes Property Development Companies,
Property Investment Companies, Residential Landlords, Banks,
Insurance Funds, Multiple Retailers, Major Corporates with
important property interests, Housing Associations, Accountants,
Architects, Engineers, Planners, Solicitors and Surveyors.
The Federation's role and purpose is to assist its members
in their aim to sustain and expand their businesses. Members
will seek to work in a spirit of partnership with occupiers
to meet their requirements and add value to their businesses.
Also, they will give consideration to the needs of other interests
including those of investors, the community at large, people
working in the industry, its suppliers and the preservation
of a sustainable environment. |
